MCRC and Essentials First partner to distribute 112,500 pounds of culturally appropriate food

Essentials First and the Muslim Community Resource Center are partnering this Ramadan to fill tables across the Puget Sound region with nutritious traditional and comfort foods for immigrant and refugee families, and anyone else who cannot reliably find their cultural foods at American food banks.

Together, staff and volunteers from both organizations packed and distributed 112,500 pounds of culturally appropriate food, international grocery and gas gift cards, and other essentials to community members at MAPS/MCRC and Essentials First locations throughout Bellevue, Redmond, Kent, and Seattle.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen!

Special thanks to our generous partners at Remitly for sponsoring this year’s Ramadan food box distribution!! Learn more about how Remitly connects families around the world at https://www.remitly.com
